Happy Halloween!

We had such an eventful day today! The boys had a blast! Kayson had a party at school and I got to go help out. We had a good time.
The boys both wanted to be Super Man. I think they looked adorable. You can judge for yourself. :)
Trick or Treating around Jess' office. :)
Flying!
Our dinner-in-a-pumpkin - the boys helped me scoop out the seeds and color it!
Then we went to a carnival at the church. It turned out wonderful .. the Young Women were in charge of the carnival games and it seemed like they were having a good time. The boys loved it.
The boys both ended up with a full gallon size bag of candy ... I think they'll be sharing it with others! In fact, after we got home we had a few trick-or-treaters. Kayson answered the door each time and gave them the candy. He looked so responsible! When the bowl got almost empty, Kayson grabbed his bag of candy to fill it up. We told him he didn't have to do that .. but he said he wanted to.
It was a wonderful day! Happy Halloween everyone! :)

My first's first day of school!

My sweet Kayson does so good in new situations. He doesn't seem to get nervous at all. He just goes right in and is ready to go! However, I am realizing lately that altho he does very well, he has a hard time preparing for it and getting there. He did not want to go to preschool because I was going to drive away. :( Up until we got into the car, he was saying he didn't want to go to preschool. However, when we got there, he went right in and as his teacher helped him he was already getting excited about the classroom! He does really well! But inside he still can't believe I leave .. when we talk about preschool, he says, "You drive away and I so mad." sigh .. at least he knows how to talk about his emotions! :)
I love you, my Kayson!
At home!
At school.
Isn't he adorable!?!

Airplane Ride and San Go-Lay-Go!

My fun family went to San Diego! We had such a good time. The boys were so excited to fly on an airplane! Kayson loved take-off, he had the biggest grin on his face and kept saying, "I like airplanes!" "I really like airplanes!" Lendon didn't like the first take-off, it kind of scared him, but the next ones he couldn't stop smiling! Because of our layovers, we had 4 take-offs total there and back. I think the boys liked that even better - more fun!
We went to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, San Diego Zoo, and Sea World ... we had a deal to do all three or we probably would have skipped one, but I'm glad we didn't. Lots of fun! We also went to the Mormon Battalion Visitor Center .. what incredible church history we learned there, and the San Diego Temple .. beautiful!
It was nearly impossible to get the entire temple and people .. this is the best one I got!
There was a little "tide pool" that the kids could touch the starfish.
This is Len, when I told him to touch a starfish for the picture. :)
Jess in the Mormon Battalion attire. The boys would not put it on!
Sometimes they surprise me!
A favorite thing to do - chase the birds!
They must be their daddy's boys.
The best part was going to visit my really good friend, Hayley. It was so good to see her and catch up. I love the friends that no matter how long it has been, it feel like no time at all. That is Hayley! She is the kind of girl that makes you feel so loved! Thanks Hayley for a wonderful time!
I only got a couple pics with Hayley .. and they just didn't turn out. Bummer!
Jess had a conference so the boys and I went to a science museum and played at the beach. They loved the beach! Sand, water, and lots of space to run!
We had such a good time. I think the boys got too tired by the end with insufficient naps and late bedtimes (they were too excited to go to sleep most nights ... I found that when I tried to make them, they'd still go to bed late and I'd be frustrated so the nights I just went with it ran a lot smoother.)
We were there when about 5 million people around had no power.
Crazy staying in a hotel with no lights. At least they gave us a candle!
I'm glad to be home, but look forward to the next time! :)
Bye San Diego!

Precious children

This week at church, Lendon was looking at one of our books. The cover has a picture of a little boy walking with and holding the hand of Jesus. After Lendon had pointed out Jesus, as he always does, he pointed to the little boy and said, "I wanna do that." I said, "You want to walk with Jesus?" "Yes," he said as he kept looking at the picture.
Aren't children wonderful?
Here is a link to the book since I can't post the picture.http://deseretbook.com/Savior-Stood-Beside-Me-Greg-Olsen/i/5011731

O Christmas Tree

We got a beautiful tree this year! I have absolutely loved having it in my house. It smells incredible and is so full and green. I love it .. there is something about having it in my house that just makes me smile (except when my boys keep using the ornaments as a kicking ball -haha ... luckily they are shatterproof!)
We had such a good time decorating the tree! We set it up and put on the lights, but didn't have quite enough so only put the star on next. I know, tradition is supposed to be to put the star on last and Kayson was just too excited! So here he is putting the star on .. with his daddy not shown! :)
Without putting on the ornaments, the boys went to bed. Altho, they had a good time playing with the ornaments first.
It turned out as a good thing that we didn't finish decoration ... b/c the tree fell down on Jess and I that night. :( It was such a disappointment for the next couple days to have our tree here, but leaning on the wall. We tried again the next night, but it was very crooked and would have fallen over too. Third time is a charm b/c it worked the 3rd night! Hooray! I put on the lights and ribbon w/o the boys, but saved the rest for them to help me with!
My big helpers.
Concentrating so hard! The finished product! Isn't it beautiful!?!
This is what Len looks like when I tell him to "look with your eyes" .. only w/o me and the camera he is looking right at the ornaments.
I'm sure it will still be up after the holidays .. especially since we'll be gone for a while .. we are all enjoying it too much!
Side note:
Glad we got more snow, the boys and I spent the entire morning playing in it! We all had a blast! Here are the 2 things Kayson wanted to make sure happened (I only have a pic of 1):
1. Build a snowman
2. Eat the snow!

I don't think they anticipated the spitting .. but they thought it was soo funny. Eat, spit, say, "yucky" and eat it again and again and again!

Dinner in a Pumpkin

Last weekend, we had friends over for dinner. I wanted to be a little festive for Halloween and finally tried for the first time, on my own, Dinner in a Pumpkin! What fun!
My happy helpers, scooping out the muck and seeds!
They are hard workers and,
as Kayson says, "I a strong boy!"
The finished product!
I know the pumpkin looks a bit unappealing, but
trust me, it had to look like that for the pumpkin
to taste so good! :)
"and they all fall down!"
Having fun with friends! (If you listen carefully, you can tell Jess is having his own kind of fun with his friend!)

Photo shoot!

As you can probably tell, I'm not much of a photographer. But my boys are so cute and did pretty well for these shots, I just had to share them!
Brothers!
This is doing the "rock" after a high-five.
Sweet smiles!
One of these days I'll catch one of Kayson's
real smiles. But for now, I'll enjoy the cheese!
Playing with each other.
"cheese!"
And a video to show how much Len is learning from his big brother! video
